Sitting atop of small hill the farmhouse enjoys a spectacular 180 degree view of the Khadakwasla dam backwaters. This two level house is designed to capture the best views of the water from most areas. The landscape experience is a hierarchy of open and contained, flat and sloped, use and visual spaces.
The entry to the house is from the upper level through a large paved court with a single Parijatak announcing the entry point. This leads to a smaller court with lush planting making the scale more intimate as one enters the house. Large terraces along the living spaces are landscaped with gravel, wooden decking and planters.
The site slopes steeply on the Southern side where flat portions have been carved out for a small lawn and a play area. A barbecue area is strategically located to capture the best view of the water. At the lowermost point a sitting area is carved out under an existing tree clump.
The planting is mostly indigenous with emphasis on flowering plants to attract butterflies. Grasses have been used to retain slopes and to demarcate the edges of slopes.
